Fishing at the tip of Michigans thumb has been good, but the Lake Trout have scattered out to deep water. The traditional trolling areas in 90-130 feet of water has not been productive, mainly due to the disappearance of bait. The best fishing for Trout, Steelhead, and Pink Salmon have been in about 160-180 feet of water. Walleye have been scattered, but there are plenty to fish for from Port Austin to Lighthouse Park in 25-45 feet of water. There have also been a lot of Whitefish caught this year on the Walleye baits. Mini Silver Streaks and Bombers have been the best. Anything with a gold or copper back instead of silver is working.
My schedule is full until September, and that’s a great time to go. For more information, call me at 586-212-4030. Capt. Dan. Good luck fishing
